....because stone lives forever

Our Process

Creating Elegant Lasting Art

We like to describe our production process as controlled super-fast erosion. That is because our carvings are etched into a flat surface through carefully directed abrasion. The result is crisp well balanced design that delights the eye and captures light in a way a more sculptural piece cannot.

Because of the permanence of our final product and the flexibility of our manufacturing process we are often asked what materials we can work. The short answer is that literally anything smooth can be carved. Some materials take longer then others because of their overall crystalline structure (granite) and others will carve like butter but will not last (sandstone).

Stone carving brings to mind the words security, solidity, adherence, assurance, backbone, balance, constancy, dependability, determination, durability, endurance, establishment, firmness, immobility, immovability, maturity, permanence, perseverance, resoluteness, solidness, soundness, stableness, steadfastness, steadiness, strength, substantiality, support, toughness, and elegance.

This is just a short list of sorts of materials that we have worked in the past…
  • Granite
  • Jade
  • Olivine
  • Marble
  • Basalt
  • River Cobbles
  • Paving Stones
  • Cement Pavers
  • Bricks
  • Glass
  • Acrylic
  • Porcelain & Ceramic Tile
If you are uncertain about the proper material choice for your project we are happy to advise you as part of the proposal process and source it for your carving.

We do realize that for some clients the material itself is as important as what the carving says and how it looks. So if you have a particular stone or tile that you wish us to work on for your project we are happy to assist you with the logistics of getting that special item to our studio to be carved.
